About

My writing journey began on the backs of my closet doors in my childhood bedroom. Since my mother held the literal key to my first diary, my closet was a space of free expression safe from prying eyes. When the house sold in 1988 there wasn’t an inch of those doors that wasn’t covered with pencil, pen, or permanent marker.

It was the urging of a Broadway playwright that changed my trajectory from being a casual writing resource to employers, friends, and family to professional wordsmith. Securing a Master of Fine Arts in creative and professional writing more than honed my skills; it re-ignited my love of words and stories and the power they hold.

I am a writer full-time in the behavioral health space - this pays the bills - but my passion lies with Creative Nonfiction essays, short real glimpses into our messy, authentic selves.

Each of us has a unique story to tell and we all deserve to be heard. The connections made through shared experiences and feelings are uniquely sacred. I hope you’ve found yourself on this page at this moment - whether by choice or chance - contemplating sharing your own story. The possibilities that doing so could ignite are endless. Trust me, I know.

I didn’t learn, or pursue, this gift of writing until late in life and I can’t help but wonder “what if” I’d done so earlier. What I hope now is that it’s never too late.

You, too, have a story to tell…what are you waiting for?
